Your data & privacy requests
Last updated: 5 June 2026
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have rights over the personal data Houseroom holds about you. This page explains those rights and how to use them. For the full picture of what we collect and why, see our privacy policy.
Your rights
Access
Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification
Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
Erasure
Ask us to delete your data, subject to limited legal exceptions.
Restriction
Ask us to pause how we use your data while a query is resolved.
Portability
Receive the data you gave us in a portable, machine-readable format.
Objection
Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
Withdraw consent
Turn off marketing or alerts you opted into, at any time.
How to make a request
For quick changes, you can edit or delete much of your data yourself from your account settings. For anything else, email privacy@houseroom.uk and tell us which right you want to use and the email or phone number on your account so we can find your records.
What happens next
We respond within one month. If your request is complex we may extend this by up to a further two months, and we will tell you if so. Requests are normally free. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we release or change any data, so that we do not hand your information to the wrong person.
Requests about a child
Houseroom accounts are held by adults. If you have added a child's details to your family profile, you can view, change, or remove them yourself, or ask us to as the parent or guardian.
If you are unhappy
Please come to us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
