ethos
The school is globally minded; most pupils live within scooting distance but the majority come from internationally based families, with around 40% of pupils bilingual. The stated ethos, per principal Mr Hepher, is 'work hard, play hard'. The curriculum focuses on 'developing the whole self' and 'embracing creativity, technology and performance'. A timetabled leadership lesson is held each week, and there is an in-house Genius programme teaching teamwork and problem-solving through activities such as code-breaking and running a virtual colony on Mars. A sense of independence is encouraged through regular residential trips (Scotland, Normandy, Rome).
teaching
Core subjects are taught alongside the Genius programme and weekly leadership lessons. At senior level, GCSE options are kept as broad as possible, with subjects such as photography and graphic design considered if there is sufficient take-up. Pupils leaving at 11+ or 13+ have won scholarships to London day schools and boarding schools.
