Head Master of Merchant Taylors' School since 2013. Preparing to retire in 2026. Has led the school through a period of strong academic results and co-curricular success.

Sam Baldock
Will become the 33rd Head Master of Merchant Taylors' School in September 2026. Currently Vice Master at Bedford School, having recently served as Acting Head Master there. Studied Natural Sciences at Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge, before working briefly in commercial research. Spent ten years at Westminster School, where he taught Biology and was later Head of Biology. Served as Assistant Head at Mill Hill School before joining Bedford School in 2018 as Deputy Head (Academic), later becoming Vice Master. Academic Director at Merchant Taylors' School, having moved into the post from Deputy Head Academic at the Boys' School. Previously Director of Teaching and Learning at Oakham School. Before that, Head of Economics at Millfield School, having moved from St. Paul's School in London where he was a Teacher of Economics. Was a senior examiner for Edexcel. Has taught Economics to GCSE, A Level and IBDP, and runs a successful Oxbridge application programme.
